It's weird that the CFRA Web site doesn't even mention when Steffi and the other women appear on "Last Call."
Last month, one of the co-hosts made some reference to a Web cam during the show, but I looked everyone on the site and couldn't find what she was talking about. I know a few of the big U.S. radio talk shows have a Web cam for subscribers so you can watch what's happening while they're talking.
But nope, no recaps.

The show was ten times better this week. They actually had news topics that they talked about for the first 90 minutes. Steffi was more vocal this week, and many of the topics were right up her alley. So great job, Steffi, and keep up the good work! Here are some of the things they talked about: * The women talked about an incident where a high school student got drugged up and raped while her classmates filmed it on a cell phone camera. The video spread around her entire school, and almost no one bothered to report it to the authorities. Steffi didn't comment too much about the incident itself, but she talked about how common cell phones are in the classroom. Many people use them to text in the classroom, and sometimes the ringtones go off. * Some pedantic loser called in and not-so-subtly blasted Steffi for being associated with Canadian Idol. He implied that she and the other contestants were "whoring for votes" on the show and should've been doing more worthwhile stuff with their lives than participating in a "popularity contest." The other co-hosts defended Steffi, and she didn't get mad. After the call, Steffi calmly explained that the show tries to get ratings and make money for itself. But she didn't feel it was just a popularity contest, nor did she think that she was prostituting herself for votes. She felt that the show helped her grow as an artist. * The hosts talked a bit about the Antonella Barba controversy. I think I heard Steffi agree with the others that Antonella couldn't sing very well, but I'm not positive. ;D The other co-hosts criticized society's willingness to tear up the very stars they create. According to the other women, if Steffi ever got involved in a scandal (such as drugs), they would protect and help her instead of condemning her. Of course, the hosts said throughout the show that Steffi is a good girl, so they weren't implying anything. * Steffi doesn't think about cosmetic surgery such as botox very often, but she doesn't believe in using it. She said she believes that you were born a certain way should work with whatever the Supreme Being (or whomever you believe in) gave you. * Everyone was asked which famous alive or dead person they would want to meet Steffi said Audrey Hepburn, Marilyn Monroe and Judy Garland. Steffi also brought up how so many people have compared her looks to Liza over the past three years. There might be more that I missed, and I'll let you know if I remember anything else. Did anyone else listen to the show?

Oh, I also remember Steffi saying that she obviously would've immediately reported the video to the authorities had she seen it because she is a sensitive person, and that she couldn't fathom how someone could just not do anything.

It's a shame that no one else got a chance to hear her show last weekend. BAMR, maybe you or someone else from the Ottawa area should ask Steffi on her Live Space if she knows of any way to get a copy so you can hear it. It was an improvement over last month's Valentine's girl chat. Although there were more callers than last time, I'm surprised that Steffi never gets any shoutouts from DLS or any other group she belongs to. Granted, her friends are probably getting drunk at that time of night, but you'd think someone would call in given her popularity. I did disagree with something that Steffi and the other women said on the show. They insisted that Idol is more of a talent competition than a popularity contest. I hate to (sort of) agree with the moronic caller who insulted Steffi, but Idol is largely about charisma and looks once the semifinals begin. Especially when the outcome is decided by a popular vote among horny, power-voting teeny boppers. In a true talent competition judged by experts, the boring Sarah Loverock would've gotten much farther, and Brandon would've left much sooner. And of course, Steffi would've never been in the Bottom 3 so many times.

I'm looking forward to Steffi's next radio show, but there's still no mention of a date on the CTV calendar. Maybe she'll reveal what's going on with her education in the next episode.
I haven't told you guys this, but I did call into the show earlier this month to comment on that rape case. The co-hosts wanted to know what would make those teenagers so cold and thoughtless that they wouldn't report the video to the police.
I suggested that high school kids have been raised and desensitized on a diet of YouTube and reality TV. That type of media is known for dehumanizes the people involved, especially when they're getting hurt. So when they see a classmate getting raped on video, the reaction might be similar.
I was trying to give Steffi an opening something to talk about in regard to how some viewers of reality TV see the contestants as 2-D characters instead of actual people. But she remained silent and let the other co-hosts talk.
I didn't single my question out to Steffi because I didn't want to be rude to the other women on the show. The other women were pretty cool though.
Up until now, I didn't say anything about this over here because I thought Steffi might bring it up on her blog. She has been quiet lately, so I thought I better share it before it becomes old news.

Steffi and her friends weren't on the air last weekend. Instead of "Last Call," some weird program called "The X-Zone" was on, and they had this tarot card reader who was trying to predict the future for callers.
I hope they didn't cancel Steffi's show and replace it with that other show. I haven't checked the Idol calendar since yesterday, but she had no scheduled date for it on there. I guess we'll just have to see if it's on this weekend...

It wouldn't hurt to e-mail CFRA and let them know that you appreciate "Last Call" when Steffi D is on it. If she is on the air this weekend, I'll send an e-mail like that. It'd be cool if she stuck with this until she moves for college. We'll just have to see what else she has going on.

Yeah, it would be this Friday night if it's going to be on. All of the shows I've listened to were on the second Friday of the month. However, this is the first time that the show is not being advertised on the CTV calendar.
I heard that if you go to the Web site, you can watch Steffi and the others through the Web cam via a "CFRA TV" button on the site's menu. I'll see if that works, provided that the show is on.
UPDATE: Steffi wrote in her LiveSpace that her show will be on April 20. So I'll send a thank-you letter to CFRA over the weekend.
