I've never been offered pot, nor have I tried to get any either.
Maybe Canada is the pothead capital of the world, but I still think your statistic is way too high unless you have a source for it. I'd be surprised if more than 60 percent of U.S. teens have tried pot once or more.
There have to be a lot of strict parents out there who would kick their kids' butts if they ever tried pot, and there are quite a few kids who wouldn't dare tempt them.

never been offered, because my friends know better... and i don't really hang out with "friends of friends" so... yeah. thank god, cause if someone ever offered me some i'd probably give them the verbal beating of a lifetime... tell all sorts of stories about bad things that have happened to my friends... etc.

I dunno I think it could be possible for 98% of teens to have at least tried it. Maybe not in some places but in others probably. And yah Ive never even been tempted to try it.

Here's some data on Canadian teen marijuana use: Also this: From CBC News, October 29th, 2003
OTTAWA– A Health Canada survey suggests teens are increasingly more likely to smoke marijuana than tobacco cigarettes.
The survey found that 54 per cent of the 15 to 19 year olds polled said they’ve smoked pot more than twice, the highest reported use in 25 years, according to Health Canada.
The poll of 1,250 people aged 12 to 19 found that, overall, 34 per cent of young people have used pot.
Ten years ago, studies showed about 12 per cent of teenagers smoked pot.
On the other hand, the latest national figures show that only 22 per cent of teens smoke cigarettes regularly.
“I think what it means is that we have done a very good job of convincing kids not to smoke tobacco for whatever reason than we have of convincing them not to use cannabis,” said Richard Garlick of the Canadian Centre on Substance Abuse.
Garlick said part of the reason is that is easier for teens to get pot. The price of cigarettes and ID checks at stores that sell them have cut tobacco use.
Officials from the health department presented the findings last week to a parliamentary committee studying the bill to lower the penalties for possession of marijuana.
Health Minister Anne McLellan said the government is not giving a mixed message about marijuana.
“This government is not saying smoking marijuana is a good thing,” she said.
“It is bad for your health. It is a dumb thing to do, especially if you’re young,” said McLellan.
McLellan said Ottawa will use the information in the study to change the message it’s sending to teens about smoking tobacco and marijuana.

Wow... I really don't think the exact percentage is that important. All I know is I'm in the minority and I like it. No need to do all this research and crap on it. But whatever. Prove your point if you feel you must. -Em

It took under 10 minutes to do a Google search and link the information. I just was curious because it's disturbing to think that every kid in Canada is baking his or her brains on this stuff.
I don't know if you can answer this, combatbaby. But I wonder if an arts-focused school like yours has higher drug and alcohol use than an ordinary high school. Many people who use mind-altering drugs do so because they reject the establishment or have a more liberal outlook on life, as do many artists.

I do singing and acting and stuff and I have like 2 friends that like it aswell but none of them are into the drug scene. It really doesnt sound that appealing to me even though Audrey Hepburn (another inspiration of mine) smoked. That is what she died of she died like the year i was born which really sucks. But that is what you get for smoking all the time.

my friends do use drugs because they believe it enhances their creativity, but mostly because it's ''fun''. in my opinion, trying to be creative is no excuse for trying drugs, cause if you need drugs to be creative then what kind of artist ARE you? and there's other ways to have fun... believe me, i have TONS of fun without them. and without alcohol, which means i REMEMBER the fun i had.
