i'll start: my friends drinking makes me cry because of bad things that have happened in my past.

Combatbaby. It's so rare these days for someone your age to have your views, it's refreshing.
I remember feeling the same way when I heard the Monday stories of all my friends getting drunk and doing irresponsible things. Somehow I managed to be respected by almost everyone in my school without attending the drinking parties. I wouldn't trade sobriety for popularity though.
I typically don't harangue anyone for drinking unless they're doing stupid stuff while under the influence. The important thing is you have to know your boundaries and then stick to them. It's hard to believe, but I recently broke off a relationship with a girl because she got all whiny when I wouldn't drink with her during dates. It wasn't a hard decision to make.

wow. yeah well i'm not really accepted by my friends for it... i spend a lot of time alone because no one ever invites me anywhere cause they know i don't drink. it's ridiculous of them to do that cause i would go with them and not drink, but i don't think they realise that. and it's true. when i say i'm different from people my age, everyone thinks it's a joke. but i am... how weird.

Fortunately for me in high school, many of my good friends were honor students, and my four best friends weren't partiers. I still hang out with two of them today. One still doesn't drink while the other only does it in moderation.
It's sad that your friends are snubbing you for not conforming to their standards. You'd think that the artsy crowd would be the least likely to be conformist and judgmental. However, most people are hypocrites once in a while.
I'm not going to suggest that you get new friends because that's too simplistic. If I were you, I'd ask them to do something together during the day when they're less likely to party.
Of course, you probably already tried that.

I cant believe they wont accept you for that! There are soo many deaths that happen because of drinking and driving...or just drinking and walking too. I have read about them, seen them on tv. Its nerv-racking. being sober is fun because then you arent acting like an idiot in public and you dont suffer from an enormous head-ache in the morning ;D I like this thread. It is great to just dish out your feelings!!! ;D What was bothering me today was my band. They ask me to sing in their band and then today I think we were almost breaking up! !! They were like "Oh its not going too well" after ONE practise together! I keep trying to tell them that not everything starts out easy, and that we should accept the challenge and give it 100 percent! Its not fair! I finally get a chance to prove myself and i almost lost it today!!!!! When people call our band "gay" and "retarded" i get sooo mad! I dont see THEM doing anything! grrr.

Its true about the drinking thing, somebody that went to my school last year died from drinking and driving. A lot of my friends who are older then me or are even my age do it to, and I really dont see the point in it.
And ibow why would they want to break it up already? you guys just started out.

OH yeah! I just remembered. There was this guy named Taylor Fraser and he went to a party he was like 14 and he drank ALOT and choked on his vomit and died. nobody called 911 cuz they didnt want to get into trouble. everyone in town here was grieving. I knew alot of people that new him. It was really sad And BAMR, we arent broken up yet, they just say things and then i convince them to take the challenges! ;D I think we will be okay, I was just venting.

How would people know about your music if you've only had one practice? Unless it's your bandmates saying that, in which case you have some problems...

My friends and I don't drink or do drugs at all either. In class discussions about drugs or alcohol, when we say we'e never done any of that, everyone looks at us like "ARE YOU SERIOUS?" We're so proud of it though. When people talk about smoking pot, we just shout "TWO PERCENT!!" really loud. (That's the percentage of teenagers who've never done pot) I guess it goes with the fact that we like to be different. I guess I should find something to dump about though... Well I guess something bad is that I ran out of class crying the other day. My Peer Leadership class was doing presentations on the person/thing that means the most to us, and my friend Amber did her Dad, who left when she was about three. She was going to sing a song called "One Last Dance With My Father" for it. She told me that it was alright if I left for that, because she knew I sometimes still get upset because my dad passed away when I was six. I told her that I would be fine. However, the song started, and I immediately looked at my feet so no one could tell how hard I was trying not to cry. When I looked up a few seconds into the song, my friend Danielle asked me if I needed to leave. I couldnt manage more than a nod before bolting to the door and bawling on the portable's steps. I felt like a complete idiot. People say they understood, and that it was okay, but seriously, it's been 10 years. You'd think I'd be over it. Ugh. Anyway, that's my abnormally long "dump." -Em

How would people know about your music if you've only had one practice? Unless it's your bandmates saying that, in which case you have some problems... Its not the band members lol. I dont know. people at my school can be so NEGATIVE! High School next year should be refreshing ;D LLTB, sorry about that day! crying infront of people is emberassing and I hate it when I do. I try my darnest to hold back the tears when it is about something sad! LOL I have a REALLY funny but also really emberassing story to tell. When I was in grade 5, i got transfered from a public school to a catholic school. It was my first mass and I guess I didnt think to go to the bathroom before we left to go to the church. So we get there and it is about 20 minutes into the mass and GUESS WHAT? Nature calls! So, I ask my teacher if i can go to the bathroom. She looks at me like I am crazy and says no. So I ask about 4 times after that and when we reached communion, i couldnt hold it any more!!! So you know what happened there. And I ran out of the church crying...but the bright side of that day was that I went home, and that was the day that me and my mother walked into the pet store and bought our first two cats! So that day was very eventful. If i could redo it, I would just walk up and go to the bathroom but it just occured to me that if i hadnt peed my pants i wouldnt have such cute cats today! ;D

Sounds a bit high. I don't even think 98 percent of hippies have done pot. ;D

well i personally hate the terms "gay" and "retarded"... i know people who are gay and disabled; it's disgusting to use those terms to say that something is stupid. also... well my friend died about two months ago... he was on medication, and he mixed it with drugs and alcohol, which caused a seizure in his sleep... omg. i never get over a death, guys. and yeah, i've never done pot. and as much as it bothers me that my friends don't include me, i also realise that if i truly want to stick by my decisions, i will. and i do. i can live without them. i'm fine especially cause i've got friends outside of school.

That is good! I have been asked to do pot before... I was at a store with a friend and this girl came up to us and we chatted and she was like "so..do you guys smoke pot?" and we were like "um..no.." and she was like "awe you should try it its so fun!" and then i was like "we're late for a thing..." it was creepy..

Lol I've never even been offered it. It's weird, you'd think I would have. I guess I just don't put myself in a position in which I'd be offered or tempted.
PS: the 98% is the percentage of teens who do pot OR have tried it at least once. Should have said that before. I think that's more accurate lol.
