I thought since it is such a big (and super important) event world wide that i should start a thread about it.
I've been watching it on TV all morning and I think it's absolutley fantastic! What do you guys think?

I watched a little of the Tokyo feed. It's a waste of natural resources to have this dog and pony show and repeat the same schlock we hear day in and day out. Most of these musicians are hypocrites. They fly around in their private jets and heat their 10,000 sq. ft. homes while seeking to reduce the average person's standard of living. Meanwhile, the wealthy can feel guilt-free about living it up because they can pay for indulgences... or as the modern term is called, "carbon credits." They're not serious about actually doing anything concrete--they just want to give off the appearance of being concerned. Even if we bankrupted our economies trying to significantly reduce CO2 emissions, scientists said last winter that we can't do anything to stop global warming for 1,000 years no matter what. So if the experts are right (and they were for Y2K, right?), it looks like we're all going to fry. Unless, of course, we follow my idea and blow up the sun. Sounds like a good theme for a concert... ;D

i'd have to agree with you, idolcynic.
their schtick (spelling?) is that they're raising awareness, all the while not actually doing anything.
however, from a music fan's point of view, it's freaking sweet ;D
