I can't believe I'm actually making this thread. A year went by so fast!
Well, the first episode starts Tuesday at 8 p.m. They're going to show the Ottawa auditions, so we might get a Steffi cameo.
Rumor has it that Greg Neufeld tried out for the show again and made it back in the Top 22. I really think the judges should've given someone new a chance instead.

Woo! new season started last night!! it's awesome that there pretty much getting all the stupid auditions overwith in like 2 shows so we don't have to go through he misery of watching all the really bad people sing.
i have a question i started watching the show at 8:09 so i missed the beginning 9 minutes but i was wondering if steffi appeared at all on that episode.
Btw.. how did you find out that greg neufeld made the top 22! that sucks!! i mean he was pretty decent singer but i think they should give someone else a chance.

I'll be seeing the episode tonight, but Steffi didn't make a cameo according to what I heard. I thought CI would've shown her and her puppets for a few seconds while talking about the people who auditioned there last year. Oh well.
The Greg Neufeld rumors come from a source on IDF who is typically right about these things. Posters on the CTV boards reported seeing Greg at the Vancouver auditions. Also, froggurl87 from the CTV forums said she knows that Greg told the CI4 Idols about making it (even though that's technically a violation of the confidentiality agreement
A word of warning though: Don't say anything about Greg right now on the CTV boards or else they'll ban you for posting a spoiler. I guess they're cracking down over there, from what I hear.

LLTB, you may not have been there, but you're over here, and I'm glad! How was NY? I saw the episode, and there were no Steffi cameos. Overall, I like the CI judges and audition format so much better. As for the contestants? They were so-so. Canada found its Pickler clone in Tara. JayDee Bixby (or however it's spelled) reminded me of Garet Johnson from AI5. The lobster fisherman (Dwight) wasn't that good vocally, but Tyler was pretty funny. I hope he keeps up the attitude as the season goes on.

I saw it last night. That Carly girl might do well with the right songs. Greg annoyed me. The rest were boring or were average singers who used their guitars as a crutch.
But it's too early to give up on this season. I wasn't even a true Steffi fan until the second or third week of the semis.

the only people i actually remember from the episodes so far are Derek Hoffman and Montana someone. ha. so i guess they're my favorites.
it's kinda a lie, though, cause i also remember Tara because i keep getting reminded of how she's the newfoundlander in the competition this year. which completely sucks. and greg because he's back. again. unfortunately. and that carly girl because my friend kept telling me while we were watching the show how much she dispised her. oh! and there was this other guy who was pretty much chris daughtry. he made me want to kill myself.
so i guess my favorites so far are derek and montana? i think the only reason i like derek is because he's majorly cute and montana because she's just so quirky. i can't actually remember anyone's singing, except that carly girl (whom i didn't like, but the judges thought were amazing...?). we'll see what happens next week.

I like Tyler Mullendore, and Jaydee might be interesting if he shows more versatility. I find myself cheering for Montana. I want to see Martha Joy's face if Montana beats her. ;D Greg is his same old, boring frat boy self. Clifton is a living Ken doll with all the personality you'd expect from one. Derek looks about 25 even though he's only 17. I liked Carly's audition a little but didn't like anything she did since. But look what one observant online fan found: Steffi was on a promotional banner that hung near the stage entrance during the Toronto rounds! I rewatched the episodes, and she's pictured below Rex Goudie and Kalan. Melissa and Eva were on other banners during those episodes, but I don't recall seeing Chad, Tyler or even Craig (which surprised me). Let's face it: Steffi deserved to be in the Top 2, and the show knew it.

so the boys were.. um.. okay?
aww i was SO dissapointed. Derek did so bad! it made me want to cry. but oh well. i actually was not impressed last night, but i'm never really impressed until the top 10 when they look more comfortable and they're on that huge stage with all the lights. anyway. i thought Liam did well. i guess he's my new favorite for the boys. i didn't expect that voice to come out of him, and he seems to have a cool personality. i don't really remember anyone else, only that Derek did quite bad and i so desperately wanted him to do well. but what can you do.
GIRLS TONIGHT. i always like the boys better than the girls, but hopefully this time the girls will do much better than the guys.

Out of the boys I really REALLY like Jaydee. I also really liked Liam. I didnt get to see the girls last night though because I was out :S I really don't see why Andrew is in the top 22. I though there were a lot better singers then him who couldve made it. I find Greg the same.. I don't think he's changed at all really, I didn't mind him last year bt I think they should've given someone else a chance that hasn't done this before.

I'm going to watch the ladies' episode tonight. I heard that Montana got the biggest pimpage ever on the show. Zack said her performances was the best thing he's ever seen on the show, and Mulroney said Jacob Hoggard has nothing on her. Anyway, my thoughts on the guys: Liam: This was one of the only performances that I liked in a good way. His vocal inflections remind me of one of those crazy Japanese rockers. He needs to cover different songs though. B+ Brian: He sounded good. The song choice and argyle were meh. B Greg: The pee-pee dance hurt his vocals a bit, and his version of "This Love" paled in comparison to Blake's. At least he flapped his arms around less than last year. B- Jaydee: He might do OK, but he disappointed me a little. His stage presence was immature and he sounded like good karaoke. B- Dwight: Off-pitch and shouty at times, but it was better than most of the group tonight. I still think that this guy can't really sing. C+ Tyler: This guy is my favorite male contestant. He straddles the line between bad and good. The singing was mumbly. The dancing was horrific, putting David Radford and Taylor Hicks to shame. He entertained me, but people might grow tired of him like Nancy. C+ Andrew: Boring. Taylor without the soul... and with less pitch. C Clifton: About as good as Ace Young from AI5, but thankfully no awful falsetto. This guy is clueless, boring, has no identity and is using his looks and acting creds as crutches. His song was boring and cliche. A true "American Idol" indeed. C- Justyn: As the crooner lovechild of Eminem and Lurch, Justyn was bizarre and had no charisma or personality. The arrangement might've worked for someone else. I expect him to leave this week or next. C- Matt: Stevie Wonder really needs to revoke the Idol rights to his music. This was a boring, clichéd mess, and the only thing funny about it was that he got a 98 percent on his exam for this. The vibrato and melisma were terrible, and he was flat for a third of the song. D+ Derek: Utterly delightful, Sanjayalicious trash. ;D There wasn't a single note in tune, and I loved every second of it. I hope he survives this week because I think this kid has a few more surprises in him. Maybe he can take all that hair in front of his face and turn it into a ponyhawk. F- Out of this group, I predict Liam, Greg, Jaydee, Tyler and Dwight to be the Top 10, with a chance of Brian taking Tyler's or Dwight's spot.

Word has it that Derek, Justyn, Maud and Christine were eliminated. I'm OK with Justyn and Christine, and I haven't seen Maud's latest performance (but I heard it was really bad). Canada should've gotten rid of Matt, Clifton or Andrew before Derek, who at least had a bit of charisma and likability. The show won't quite be the same without the question mark. UPDATE: I just saw the women perform. Here is my order: 1. Carly 2. Montana 3. Martha 4. Khalila 5. Mila 6. Christine 7. Tara 8. Scarlett 9. Naomi 10. Maud 11. Annika The Top 10 will likely have Montana, Carly, Martha, Tara and Khalila or Mila. Although Montana was funny to watch and planned her song well, she had no real vocal and slurred a lot of the words. I still think she was overpimped and wouldn't put her at a Jacob or Steffi level yet, but she could get there someday if she discovers a singing voice. It'll be interesting to see if Montana will be able to adapt and withstand the theme nights. What did you guys think of her?
