I have some thoughts about all of this that I'll post tonight or tomorrow. I had the same fears a few days ago that ibow had, but I held my tongue to see if they were worth sharing.

yeah if you have a thought on steffi, its better you post it cuz its likely that other people have thought the same thing. But I know that I will keep following her career, but its going to be kind of hard if she goes to Julliard and we dont hear anything from her for 4 years, by that time im going to be somewhere else like college or university :s

Because you guys asked for my thoughts, here they are: As much as I love Steffi’s work, I’m concerned that it might not be worthwhile to follow her career. It’s only fun to be a Deevotee if she actually wants fans, and she hasn’t shown any signs of that lately. Final bow?We all counted down the days until Steffi was free from her contract. But instead of hearing more details about her post-Idol future, we have heard barely anything from her. Thankfully, Kelly and combatbaby have done their best to update us on things. But while most of the other Idols have started MySpaces and maintained them, Steffi's blog is still empty. Other than some vague knowledge about her play, we have no idea what she is working on. This bodes poorly for the future. It suggests that she doesn’t plan or want to be a public figure anymore. And if she intends to keep us in the dark until she leaves Juilliard, this site's only purpose is to remember the bygone days of CI4. I can't picture myself doing that for four years. Openness mattersNo one can force Steffi to share her career with us. She gave us her all on CI4, and she is entitled to privacy and obscurity if that’s what she wants. But losing contact would be sad for us and counterproductive for her. Fan outreach is a career investment. That’s why Craig and Tyler reach out to their supporters on MySpace so much. They know that the chance to quickly build a nationwide following might not happen again. Sure, Steffi needs to finish strongly in school. It’s absurd to expect her to do 3-4 events per week like she did last fall. But if she wants to keep people from losing interest, she can do some little things to stay visible. Steffi supposedly is always working on some kind of project. It doesn’t matter if it’s an original play, a school musical, a charity event or a competition. She should briefly write about them on her Live Space and maybe post pictures. Audio or video is even better, but it's optional. Unclear motivesSo why isn’t she taking a more active role in promoting herself? In my opinion, the “I’m too busy to update” excuse is a smokescreen. There isn’t an overachiever on Earth who can’t spend five minutes to type up a couple of sentences every few weeks. I don’t know Steffi personally, so it’s hard to guess her motives. My best guess is that she is comfortable with high school life, so she totally closed the book on last summer and moved on. And because she doesn’t need votes anymore, perhaps she doesn’t need us… until the opening night of her Broadway debut. I really hope I'm wrong about this. I’ve underestimated her many times before, so she can kick my butt if I did it again. But no matter what, you guys have been too much fun to leave just yet. I’ll stick around for a few more months and see what happens with that play in April. I’ll make another decision from there.

... ... I hope I wasn't being too harsh. I don't think Steffi is a bad person, and I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings. I'm just worried that her silence about her future might be intentional. Maybe I should've held my tongue. Sorry, guys.

no its okay. I agree with a lot of what you said, your not saying she's a bad person, and like her any less. I agree if she wants to become more well known in the future she should start doing something about it and do more preformances like some of the other people from CI are doing. But if her silence IS intentional and shes chosen that this isnt what she wants to do anymore, we can't really do anything about that, although that would be very sad

Mhmm... Being completely honest, I'll be trying out for Canadian Idol for fun. I have no intention or dream of winning, I just think it would be a good experience. As of right now, I don't even want to be a singer at all (as a career, I mean). I actually want to be an editor. That could change. But maybe that's what Steffi thought too. Maybe she just wanted to go on the show for fun, and now she's done with all of that. Maybe she's happy with her 15 minutes of fame and doesn't want any more than that. I don't know... Maybe. -Em

You might be onto something. Steffi said in different interviews that she tried out on a dare and for fun, and that she didn't expect to get as far as she did.
Still, resisting fame isn't typical behavior for someone who wants to be on Broadway someday. If she just wants to perform for its own sake, she should take up a medical career like her parents and do some community theater on the side.
She'd probably be better off financially doing that instead of scratching out a living in New York. From stories I've heard, the competition is so fierce that the only successful people are those who have the willpower and hunger to make it big.
If six or seven Internet fans and a few thousand casual supporters are too "big" for Steffi, then yikes.

hmm...I see what you guys are saying. It sucks because when people try out for CI, they dont know how far they are going to get. And if they get far and have tons of fans, and then once the competitor is eliminated and does something else, the fans arent the happiest campers But it would make me sad if Steffi didnt do anything. She has been my inspiration for so long. She made it seem so cool to be yourself and not worry about wha other people think but respect it at the same time. She has an amazing voice also but we all know that lol. But I am not going to give up even if I am left in the dark for FOUR years!!!! I have found my inspiration and I am not going to let go! I know she will do something! She is going to JUILLIARD for heavens sake! JUILLIARD HAS A RECORDING STUDIO!!!!!!! ;D Dont lose hope yet guys. And april is my birthday month (27th) and I would hate for everyone to quit around that time lol. Just a random thought. grr if only i started the forum when she was still in the competition. there would definitely be more posters If i did. aa!

ibow, Steffi needs to hear that. Even if she wants to be low-key for a while, I can't picture her being cold enough to brush something like that off. No matter what happens with her, it would be nice for Steffi to recognize the work that you and BAMR put into this site. You guys are from her hometown, you're sincere and you tried to help her out. As long as you two didn't do anything to scare Steffi off in November (and I'm sure you didn't), maybe she'd agree to write to you guys every so often. If I were her, I would. Meanwhile, we'll see what happens. Steffi was doing lots of stuff up until Christmas, and she could start again once she has more of a breather in school. Who knows--maybe she's trying to plan events, but no one wants to host her. I can't get into Steffi's head very well. I hope someone can tell her that her fans want to hear an honest update on things, particularly in regard to her play, Juilliard/college and anything else that's important. Let's muster up a little hope.

When I wrote her the letter after she was eliminated I told her pretty much exactly what ibow said there, that she was my inspiration and I loved how she wasn't afraid to be herself and it paid off ;D but even if she does decide to go another path I still think she should do small things because shes got same amazing talent and it would be really sad if she didnt use it. And really we dont even know if shes going to make into Julliard she hasnt definitely been accepted yet.

I want to write her a letter soo badly right now because I didnt get a chance to tell her when I met her! It was a short conversation but it rocked! I was on a happy high for the rest of the weekend ;D And I dont think we did anything to scare her in november either right BAMR? It would be awesome if she could write to us every once in a while. But im sure its too much to ask because wouldnt she be doing exams at this time? Those have got to be stressful!
